IRCTC Prepares To Fast Track Travel Services

Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) proposed launch of Tejas – the super luxury train – will definitely put the arm of Indian Railways on a fast track in terms of revenue generation and serving passengers with high-quality travel experience.

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal shared the first glimpse of the premium train.

On Friday, the inaugural run of this second Tejas Train will be flagged off from Ahmedabad.

The commercial run of the train will start with effect from January 19 from Ahmedabad.

The train to be operated by IRCTC which also operates the first Tejas Train and it will be equipped with all modern facilities on board.

The Ahmedabad-Mumbai Tejas Train will have scheduled commercial halts at Nadiad, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Vapi and Borivali and it will run on all days of the week except Thursday.

It will have two Executive Class Chair Cars having 56 seats each and eight Chair Cars having a capacity of 78 seats each.

The total carrying capacity of the train will be 736 passengers.

Each coach will be provided with RO water filter in addition to the packaged drinking water bottle for each passenger.

Complimentary onboard infotainment services will be available to the passengers in the train.

Meanwhile, IRCTC will soon launch affordable lodging facility for passengers at the Mumbai Central railway station as Indian Railway is planning to set up its first pod hotel

By December 2020, two non-air-conditioned waiting rooms, located on the first floor of Mumbai Central railway station are likely to be turned into a pod hotel.

The upcoming pod hotel will consist of a building with multiple extremely small and ultra-modern capsules or pods that provide overnight accommodation to passengers.

Net net we believe that all these customer-friendly initiatives are all going to benefit the end customer and will make the B2C experience of IRCTC even better ahead. Already IRCTC enjoys a very attractive business moat from high margin business like internet booking, mineral water, and food services where growth potential over the next 3 to 5 years is on an uptrend
